Are you interested in where the City of Gresham collects revenues to pay for public services like police, fire, and parks? Do you have a perspective on what the priorities should be for the resources that the City has available?
I encourage you to get engaged with the City's annual budget process. That is happening right now!
Step 1 - Review the 2019-2020 "budget in brief". This is a document that just provides a high-level overview of the budget in an easy to understand format.
Step 2 - Bookmark and skim the proposed 2020-2021 budget.
Here in Oregon, our budget process starts by the City Manager drafting this proposed budget. That is reviewed first by a budget committee that includes citizen volunteers (including myself); After any changes are made to the proposed budget, it is forwarded to the City Council for any final changes and adoption.
Step 3 - Have any questions? Have an opinion about what should be prioritized or changed? One important option you have is to provide public comment to the City's budget committee meeting.
When: April 28th, 6PM
Where: Zoom online video (https://greshamoregon.zoom.us/j/91869310725). Unfortunately (despite advocacy for public engagement),
the City will not be allowing the public to provide interactive public comments. The only option is to submit written comments, and send them to the City in advance. You can send those to [email protected], and they will be provided to the committee at the meeting.
Thanks for getting engaged. Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or feedback.
